The session as part of the Inovação Fora de Portas – Engenharia Civil à Mostra initiative focused on the revitalization of the Time Out Market Porto, located in the south wing of the iconic São Bento Station, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The project, designed by Porto-born architect Eduardo Souto de Moura, Pritzker Prize winner, transformed the station’s disused area into a gastronomic and cultural hub featuring 12 restaurants, two bars, a panoramic tower, and an outdoor space.

Covering around two thousand square metres, the market preserves the historic heritage while combining it with interventions tailored to modern interior requirements. The project achieves both functionality and preservation, engaging locals and visitors, creating a vibrant experience in the historic heart of the city.

During the session, Architect Luís Peixoto and Engineer António Adão da Fonseca presented the architectural and technical solutions, in a discussion moderated by Architect Bárbara Rangel (DEC FEUP). This award-winning project of 2025 stands out as an exemplary case of urban rehabilitation respecting heritage while innovating in the city of Porto.
